Legacy Shops of Elmhurst is a 6,400-square-foot retail shopping center near the busy intersection of York Street and Butterfield Road in Elmhurst, IL. The center is located one block from Elmhurst Hospital’s Main Campus. Anchored by Jimmy John’s and adjacent to a heavily trafficked Shell gas station, the building was brimming with potential despite some vacancies and an outdated exterior.
Brookline went under contract with a vision for the first “Legacy Shops” concept in which well-located but struggling retail centers are targeted to be acquired, renovated, and leased to new tenants who can add value to the neighborhood and each other. Legacy Shops is the product of years of selling, leasing, managing, and observing trends among multi-tenant retail centers and what makes them successful in the community.
The purchase for the property at 1035 S York Street was recently finalized and plans for these leasing and management projects are already underway.
